In a group of 4, we were given a building in Klang area. As for my group, we got the shophouses along Jalan Tenku Kelana. We were to identify different architectural elements that the heritage building contained and also the functional needs of local community to that building. We were also required to produce a report about the analysis of this heritage building.
Objectives:
-describe the development of the main stands of western architecture over the last 200 years.
-identify some of the issue involved in inter-relationship between theory and design as exemplified in various historical periods and places.
-ability to differentiate the way in which many varies factors contribute to the development of form.
Reflection:
From this project I have learnt the importance of cooperation within groupmates in order to get our project done. Besides, i have learnt how to indicate and identified the architectural elements of a building. This project also requires us to do our own research about architectural styles i never knew before. Therefore, i learned alot of new things about architectural styles as well. Lastly, I improved my skill to identify what kind of architectural element there is as well as architectural styles.
Project 2: Presentation Board
This project is linked to our first project. It requires us to produce a handdrawn A3 presentation board. This however, is an individual work. So from the group of 4, we were divided into different parts to do like site context and user, architectural element, changes and responses. I chose site context and user.
Reflection:
Through this project I learned how to identify the site context and user of this area. It was pretty tough at first because it was hard to find information. But with the help of my group mates, and the discussion we had, I have understood more of what it is all about.
