Building Construction

Project 1: Documentation and Analysis Construction Process

In a group of 9 people we were required to choose a 4 storey building (low rise building) construction and create a research for the report. We have chosen the site ourselves and we have chosen a few sites.


Objective:
-introduce us various construction elements
-enhance the understanding of principles of construction, construction activities and the importance of basic detailing, material and construction joints through real projects.
-chance to study the relationship between site and construction methods.



Reflection:

From this project I have learnt about the importance of cooperation in order to accomplish something. I have also learnt the way and various type of construction method. For instance, type of ofundation, floor wall, door and window, staircase, formwork. I learnt alot about construction.

Project 2: Integrated Construction Solution

This is a linked project from the first project which also relates to the project from architectural design studio 2. It is about the type, process and construction method. We were to design and prove our understanding and knowledge about construction elements.

Objective:
-to develop our understanding of the structural elements in construction ands application in construction industry
-demonstrate a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of build ability.
-demonstrate our understanding and knowledge about construction, material and technology
-to encourage us to produce manual sketches, drawings and detailing relating to construction.

Reflection:

This has never been my favourite subject but I have learnt about the interesting side of it through this project. Building construction is very important for architecture and this project made me realize that. It also helps me understand more about the detail or joint that is suitable for my design. I have definitely learned alot from this project.
